The Emerald Way August 2023
Summer’s Last Days
Welcome to August! July was another good month for the market and the Federal Reserve raise rates for the 11th time in 16 months. Though inflation seemed to be cooling the Feds action was expected.
August is commonly referred to as the dog days of summer, which are the hottest and the driest days of the summer in the Northern hemisphere. The phrase has been used in the English language for over 500 years, though it goes back much further. with ties to ancient Greece and Hellenistic astrology.
With the market being able to change at the drop of a hat, this month we discuss two different kinds of portfolios you might have with us. Diversified and concentrated stock portfolios are equally as important as one another! We hope that from the articles this month, you are able to gain a new insight into the differences and similarities between the two.
To help you continue having conversations around money we want to keep asking a money question each month. This month’s question is:
What is my definition of being wealthy?
The term “wealth” can mean vastly different things from one person to the next. In keeping with one of the month’s themes of diversity, this question asks what your personal definition of wealth is, and what you define as being “wealthy.”
July was the hottest month ever recorded. Please stay cool and hydrated in the heat!
